"Don't Forget to Fly" Shabby Mixed Media Card for Scrap & Craft

I'm here to share my final post as a designer for Scrap & Craft. Thank you Aneta, for the wonderful opportunity to create with such gorgeous products from your amazing shop! The store remains open, so please return often to pick up your favorite supplies. 

This sweet card features gorgeous Studio75 Berry Copse paper along with beautiful chipboard and flowers from the store. I just had to use this "don't forget to fly" sentiment with the fabulous SnipArt hot air balloon chippie making this a card that can be used for a variety of occasions.

Tips and Techniques

This lovely floral cluster includes a Magnolia Flower, Ivory Mulberry Rose, and Pale Pink Mulberry Roses from the store along with some beauties from 49 and Market. I dry brushed the flowers and stamen with white gesso, then applied Finnabair's Soft Matte Gel Medium and sprinkled lightly with white gold microbeads to add sparkle and texture. 

I used Bambino Glue to adhere the Prills that I tucked in for color and texture.

The lovely Craft Molly Floral Corners Chipboard was snipped in half, then heat embossed in white, then again with sparkling holographic embossing powder. 

I used fabulous Studio75 The Berry Copse paper from the 6x6" pad for the background. To add texture and more sparkle, I stenciled Finnabar's Light Paste through an Art Anthology Lotus Stencil across most of the background and then while the paste was still wet, I sprinkled generously with Donna Salazar's Pralines & Cream Twinkle Dust Glitter to give a golden shimmery glow.

***Tip***

Once the glittered molding paste is completely dry,

used canned air to blow off any excess glitter.

Ah, this is my favorite part of the card. I cut a piece of coordinating paper from the Berry Copse pack to fit the back of the balloon and heat embossed the chipboard with bronze embossing powder. This tiny Finnabair Mechanicals Tin Heart fit perfectly over the basket of the hot air balloon. It is rubbed with metallic paint and Finnabair Waxes to give a grungy vintage feel. 

The background is stamped with 49 and Market's 1797 stamp in sepia ink, then spattered with white drawing ink.

Altered Mixed Media Embroidery Hoop with Handcrafted Silk Flowers for Scrap & Craft

Welcome to my creative space!

Today I have a sweet mixed media altered embroidery hoop featuring handcrafted Silk Foam flowers along with the gorgeous Studio75 Violet Love Collection and fabulous chipboard and stamps from the Scrap & Craft Store. I really enjoyed creating this darling home decor piece!

Tips and Techniques

These beautiful flowers are created with Silk Foam colored with three purple and blue shades of Prima Oil Pastels. I used the Metal Ball Tool Set from the store to shape the petals. These Wild Orchid Crafts stamen were the perfect color for the flower centers.

The gorgeous Anemone Border Botanical Chipboard piece was heat embossed in Ranger's Pale Gold Embossing Powder, then rubbed with Finnabair's Amethyst Magic wax.

Another close-up shot of the flowers from a different angle. You can see the Artistiko Cog tucked into the cluster. The grid pattern on the background paper is stamped with the Agateria Grille Clear Stamp. I also spattered Lindy's Stamp Gang Jazzy Jivin' Purple across the background to add touches of purple. 

I added a bit of extra purple below the sentiment from the Violet Love collection with a watercolor marker. Bambino Glue from the store is used to adhere Prills, microbeads, mica flakes, rhinestones, and pearls.

"Fly" Mixed Media Card featuring Craft O'Clock for Scrap & Craft

Welcome to my creative space!

I have a new project to share today featuring wonderful products from the Scrap & Craft Store featuring the Craft O'Clock ~ Morning Dreams II paper collection which has such gorgeous colors and fabulous images that can be fussy cut to embellish your projects. I've also used chipboard, stamps, and organza trim from the store.

Most of the cards I create are made with a special person in mind, but I do like to keep a few on hand for those unexpected special occasions. With this encouraging sentiment, it could be used for a birthday or really any kind of celebration or milestone event.

Tips and Techniques

I selected delicate Prima flowers to go with the soft colors on the gorgeous background paper and fussy cut flowers, then tucked in a single blossom from the Organza Rose Trim. I just adore this versatile trim that can be used in a strip or cut apart for individual flowers.

I treasure texture, so used Bambino Glue to adhere metal objects, Prills, diecut leafy flourishes, chunky glass glitter, rhinestones, and Finnabair Microbeads and Mica Flakes, around the cluster and across the page.  Do you have a stash of found items like I do? It's so lovely to tuck in an odd found item or two into mixed media projects for a unique touch. I brushed them with Finnabair's Sparks Paint and Art Alchemy Wax to fit in.

These fabulous Scrapiniec Steampunk Flying Hearts Chipboard Wings are heat embossed in pale gold, a perfect accent to the soft teal and pinks.

The background is stenciled with crackle paste, then spritzed with Lindy's Gang Tibetan Poppy Teal and Frozen Jack Frost Starburst mist. Once dry, white ink is spattered across for soft visual texture.

 

I combined the Agateria Grill 3 Stamp with a flourish stamp from my stash to edge the top and bottom of the card using permanent ink. I thought this sentiment was just perfect to go with the chipboard wings in the cluster.

"Shine Brightly" Shabby Mixed Media Card Featuring Studio75 Paper for Scrap & Craft

Welcome to my creative space!

I just adore playing with color, and this gorgeous teal green paper from the Studio75 Berry Copse 6x6" Paper Collection is a perfect backdrop for magenta and gold accents featuring chipboard and flowers from the Scrap & Craft Store.

 Tips and Techniques

I arranged the floral cluster around this gorgeous Craft Molly Zahia chipboard frame. I wanted a few white accents to add lightness to the card, so simply heat embossed the frame in white. I've used a couple flowers from the store including the delicate ivory rose tucked below the sentiment. 

I've also used 49 and Market, Prima, and Wild Orchid Crafts flowers from my stash in the cluster with Prima pearls tucked in along with a couple Finnabair Mechanical pieces rubbed with her Amethyst Magic Antique Brilliance Wax.

Prima Paper Clay was formed in the Prima Baroque mold then painted with Finnabair's Ginger Magic Sparks Paint and rubbed with her Amethyst Wax.

I colored a white Apple Blossom with color mist and paint to coordinate. Bambino Glue was brushed around the cluster to adhere Prima Finnabair Art Stones, Mini Art Stones and seed beads for texture.

Additional texture was created by mixing Finnabair Gold Mica Powder into her 3D Matte Gel to stencil onto the background. While wet, I sprinkled with Finnabair Gold Microbeads. Since gel medium can work as an adhesive the beads are well adhered to the card.

The Scrapiniec Confetti Hearts are so versatile! I added three layers of color before scattering them around the cluster. I started with a layer of teal embossing powder, followed by teal glitter embossing powder, then one edge is brushed with Finnabair's Gold Metallique Wax. 

I also added pearls, rhinestones, and Finnabair Mica Flakes from my stash adhered with Bambino Glue.

I backed the card front with a fabulous Studio75 15x15cm Blank Card. These white cards are super heavy and hold up the weight of all my embellishments perfectly.

The background is stamped randomly with a script stamp and edged with a leafy scrolled design from Blue Fern Studios, then spattered with white drawing ink. I've also tucked in leafy white die cuts.

Masculine Industrial Mixed Media Tag for Scrap & Craft

Welcome to my creative space!

I enjoy getting grungy with masculine designs. This tag is a graduation gift for the son of a good friend. I just adore this senior portrait taken of him on a bridge with the industrial red beams. The Tim Holtz tag board is rather large at 6 1/2" wide by 12" high so is a great home decor piece featuring the Studio75 Cherry Blossom Collection as well as chipboard, stamps, and brick stencil from the Scrap & Craft Store. Tips and Techniques

I wanted to bring in a grungy industrial feel to go with the gorgeous bridge in the photo so the gears in the Scrapiniec Flying Hearts Set were just perfect. This is one long strip of gears that I cut to frame the corner of the photo. The chipboard was heat embossed with Stampendous Aged Taupe enamel for an old metal feel. 

Around the tag edges, I stamped with the Grille and Grille 3 stamp with grey ink.

The Small Brick Stencil with Finnabair's Light Paste is a perfect accent on the background. It's spritzed with Lindy's Black Orchid Silver and Autumn Maple Crimson Starburst spray to highlight the texture. These colors were also used to add spatter texture. The dark paper behind the photo came from the 6x6" Studio75 Cherry Blossom Paper Set and was torn to size then inked with Hickory Smoke Distress Ink to tone down the bright white edges.

The circle piece was diecut from chipboard and enameled with more of the aged taupe powder. I found a roll of back plastic mesh at a flea market that's great for masculine pieces. I cut and brushed a couple bits with art wax to tuck under the photo.

The small stars are from the Scrapiniec Confetti Stars Set. There are just a ton of little stars in this set that can be used so many different ways to go with any project. Here I brushed them with Finnabair's Rust Effect Paste so they look like rusty metal.

I have a bag of rusty washers collected by my friend's husband who knows I adore rust. I just had to use them for their son's gift. At the bottom of the bag I noticed flakes and bits of rusty goodness. I brushed Bambino Glue around the washers and sprinkled the rusty bits into the glue for texture. The washer is topped with a barn star and gear. To make it look like the washer had rusted in place, I brushed some Rust Effect Paste around the washer and spritzed with water.

More rusty goodness. A piece of chunky silver chain from my stash was brushed with more rust effect paste to color.

The tag background is from the 12x12" Studio75 Cherry Blossom Paper Set. I traced and cut the paper then used soft matte get to adhere the paper to the tag. Rolling with a brayer made sure the paper was adhered securely. Once the gel was completely dry, the edges were lightly sanded then inked. 

The vintage key was still somewhat shiny, so I brushed it with Rust Effect Paste and placed it atop another of the fab rusty washers.

This cool gear came from the Artistiko Cogs Set made from HDF board. I just adore the fabulous gear shapes in this set. It was heat embossed with metallic bronze powder with just a hint of black mixed in.

"Dream Big" Shabby Mixed Media Card ~ DT Inspiration for the Scrap & Craft July Challenge

Welcome to my Creative Space!

The July Challenge for Scrap & Craft has been posted and the theme is "summer." I've created this sunny mixed media card featuring the Studio75 Violet Love Collection as part of the DT inspiration for the challenge.

In this challenge you need to create any summer project! Use summer theme embellishments, colors or wording. You can create any project you want: layout, card, canvas, art journal page or OTP project.

Tips and Techniques

The sweet floral cluster includes Magnolia Flowers and an Ivory Mulberry Rose from the store along with a few Wild Orchid Crafts flowers from my stash. I tucked a few Prima Pearls into the empty spots.

The soft Organza Rose Trim is so lovely. Every girl loves some bling, so I added a sparkling rhinestone to the center of each blossom. 

The lovely Anemone Gaja Ornament chipboard is heat embossed with aged ivory embossing enamel, then the edges rubbed with Finnabair's Vintage Gold Wax. Don't be afraid to cut up your chippies. I snipped this one in half to extend out on each side of the cluster. The Scrapiniec Confetti Hearts include a ton of little hearts in three sizes. I heat embossed several in Raspberry and brushed with more of the gold wax.

Of course there needs to be a fluttering insect on any summery project. This Misz Masz Butterfly Chipboard Die Cut is embossed in aged ivory, then edged with raspberry and a touch of white gold wax over the body with a little rhinestone to add more bling.

The Violet Love background paper was dry brushed with white gesso, then stamped with two of the Agateria Grille stamps. I also added some spatter with Lindy's Gang Moonlit Mulberry Moon Shadow Mist and white drawing ink.

This delightful sentiment was cut from the 12 x12 Violet Love Paper Collection and edged with wisteria ink. The Anemone Fabian Chipboard Ornament is so perfect to anchor the sentiment. 

Bambino Glue is used to adhere texture elements from the Prills and Finnabair Microbeads around the flowers to the Confetti Hearts, mica shards, rhinestones, and sequins scattered around the card for texture.

"Life is Wonderful" Mixed Media Tag for Scrap & Craft

 

Welcome to my creative space!

I've created a shabby mixed media tag featuring Studio75 The Peony Avenue Collection along with stamps, chipboard, flowers, and trim from the Scrap & Craft store. A complete product list can be found at the bottom of this post.

I am so happy to finally work with Foamiran to create flowers. I created the large rose in the cluster and have a DIY video tutorial for these beautiful roses that you can view HERE. The Scrap & Craft store has a full line of Foamarin and flower making supplies HERE.

Tips and Techniques

 

 This beautiful focal rose is one of the first flowers I created with Foamiran. You can view my DIY video tutorial with tips on working with this fabulous product HERE.

 

I tucked in paper roses from the store along with one trimmed from Studio75 Organza Rose Trim. I had a few gaps around my cluster and a single organza rose cut in half filled those empty spaces perfectly. I also fussy cut flower and leaf images from bonus sheets in the Studio75 The Peony Avenue Collection paper set.

I adore mixing up textures and tucked in a couple fluffy white feathers along with one I molded from paper clay brushed with Finnabair's white gold art wax. The cluster is built atop a layer of wispy cheesecloth for even more texture.

 

The gorgeous Craft Molly Floral Corners Chipboard is heat embossed with Stampendous Shabby Pink Embossing Enamel. I've also added texture with Prima pearls, Prills, microbeads, glitter shards, Dusty Attic mini chipboard butterflies, and sequins. 

 

I stamped the background using Grille stamps from the Scrap & Craft store.

The background was stenciled with transparent crackle medium over a Tim Holz Stone Layering Stencil, then brushed with Lindy's Frosty Forest Green and Alpine Ice Rose Shimmer Sprays. I have a large collection of Lindy's sprays and adore how I can coordinate their gorgeous colors to my papers and elements. I also added spatters with white drawing ink then distressed the edges and colored with PanPastels.

Foamiran Flower Card ~ DT Inspiration for June Scrap & Craft Challenge

Welcome to my Creative Space!

On Tuesday I posted a video for my very first Foamiran flowers with a DIY video. I used those flowers for this card I created as DT inspiration for the Scrap & Craft June Challenge to create your own flowers and use them in your project. In this challenge you need to create your own flowers and use them in your project. You can create any project you want: layout, card, canvas, art journal page or OTP project.

Please make sure to follow ALL the rules of the challenge to be eligible for the fabulous prizes!

Closeups:

You can see how my flowers progressed as I learned to work with the Foamiran. I created the large rose in the center first, then the smaller one on the lower right side and the last one I made is on the left with more delicate and realistic petal edges.

I cut out and inked the edges of the center images and fussy cut the doily shape tucked into the cluster. They all came from the Studio75 ~ Cherry Blossom paper set while the background papers are from the Studio75 ~ Cherry Blossom 6x6 paper set.

The background is embossed using Finnabair's Light Paste with a flourish stencil, then when dry I applied Lindy's Frosty Forest Green and Alpine Ice Rose Starburst mists.

I used three different embossing powders for the chipboard pieces. Ivory for the chicken wire, shabby white for the gears, and Verdant for the leaf flourishes.

I adhered the pearls, art stones, Prills, and microbeads with Bambino Glue from the Scrap & Craft Store.
