Altered Vintage Mirror with VIDEO TUTORIAL for Little Birdie Crafts

 

Welcome to my creative space!

I found a tarnished and chipped mirror in a thrift store. It had seen better days, but I just adored the intricate design on the back and thought it would be a lovely base for a project. I used Little Birdie Gesso and Multi-Surface Paints to give it new life. It’s decorated with amazing flowers from the Celebrate Life, Shabby Chic, and Fairy Sparkle collections along with Primed Chipboard pieces and a clock cut with the Timekeeper die set.

Steampunk Altered/Upcycled Book and VIDEO TUTORIAL with VOICE for Little Birdie Crafts

Welcome to my creative space!

Hi everyone! I'm back to share an upcycled project with you today. I altered an old book with steampunk and poppies – a perfect pairing. The gorgeous flowers and clock are fussy cut from the Poppies & Roses collection. 

Here's a close-up of the fabulous beetle molded from the Zuri Designs Loveable Bugs set and colored with amazing Little Birdie Metallic Waxes.

I adore living atop a hill in the beautiful countryside of Ohio, but it does have it's limitations when it comes to internet speed which dwindled to nearly nothing when the stay at home orders came down for COVID-19. As a result, I was unable to upload videos for a while. Our service is improving, so I can once again create videos for you! This is my second video with voice. I hope you like it.

In this video I also share techniques using more amazing Little Birdie supplies: Crackle Paste; Tinted Metallic Paints; Primed Chipboard; and Metallic Waxes.

Floral Candle Holder with Patina Crackled Finish for Little Birdie Crafts

Welcome to my creative space!

I just adore making something beautiful out of an item doomed for the trash. This wooden candle holder base was rescued from the clearance aisle of a local craft store with a large chip on one edge. Because of the damage, I only paid a mere 25 cents for it. I filled in the chip with texture paste and once it was dry, added texture with Little Birdie Crafts Mixed Media Paste and Crackle Paste for a perfectly grungy finish to color and decorate with these flowers from the gorgeous Woodland Stories collection that will be released later this year. Altered Mixed Media Embroidery Hoop with Handcrafted Silk Flowers for Scrap & Craft

Welcome to my creative space!

Today I have a sweet mixed media altered embroidery hoop featuring handcrafted Silk Foam flowers along with the gorgeous Studio75 Violet Love Collection and fabulous chipboard and stamps from the Scrap & Craft Store. I really enjoyed creating this darling home decor piece!

Tips and Techniques

These beautiful flowers are created with Silk Foam colored with three purple and blue shades of Prima Oil Pastels. I used the Metal Ball Tool Set from the store to shape the petals. These Wild Orchid Crafts stamen were the perfect color for the flower centers.

The gorgeous Anemone Border Botanical Chipboard piece was heat embossed in Ranger's Pale Gold Embossing Powder, then rubbed with Finnabair's Amethyst Magic wax.

Another close-up shot of the flowers from a different angle. You can see the Artistiko Cog tucked into the cluster. The grid pattern on the background paper is stamped with the Agateria Grille Clear Stamp. I also spattered Lindy's Stamp Gang Jazzy Jivin' Purple across the background to add touches of purple. 

I added a bit of extra purple below the sentiment from the Violet Love collection with a watercolor marker. Bambino Glue from the store is used to adhere Prills, microbeads, mica flakes, rhinestones, and pearls.
