"Don't Forget to Fly" Shabby Mixed Media Card for Studio75

Hello my dear friends. If you've been following my work for a while, you probably know that I adore mixing sweet beautiful elements with grungy textures and this card is a wonderful mix of both. I've featured the gorgeous Studio75 Violet Love and Forever in Love paper collections along with the amazing Miszmaz Daizy Branches chipboard that is transformed into this gorgeous, grungy butterfly trail. More grunge is added to the background with the SnipArt Damask Stencil and stamps from the Studio75 Store. 

 Tips and Techniques

The focal paper is from the 6x6" Violet Love paper pack. The edges are stamped with the Agateria Grille 3 stamp from the store using permanent brown ink and then rubbed with a bit of teal and light brown Distress Oxide Ink for a grungy effect.

The background behind the butterfly is also stamped with grungy Seth Apter stamps from my stash. The edging paper is from the Forever in Love 6x6 paper set and rubbed randomly with a little more brown ink to help it pop. I rubbed some of the same ink across the lace as well.

The gorgeous butterfly is die cut from the Tim Holtz Sizzix Tattered Butterfly Bigz Die with paper from the 6x6" Forever in Love paper pack. I rubbed teal and brown Distress Oxide Ink over the die cut pieces to color. To help the cutouts in the wings pop, I adhered tan paper from the collection on the back of the wings to peek through. This sweet Little Birdie flower is rubbed with a little brown Distress Oxide ink to grunge it up and glued into the center of the butterfly. The wings are curled to give dimension.

I also used a Prima text stamp with permanent Versafine Vintage Sepia ink on the paper before die cutting the butterfly. A flashlight bulb worked perfectly to create a head for the butterfly and the base of the bulb is colored with Finnabair's metallic art wax.

  

This fabulous Daisy Branches Miszmasz chipboard is absolutely perfect as a grungy trail for the butterfly. A mix of truffle and seafoam embossing powders are used to color. Bambino Glue is used to adhere the chipboard.

 

I just adore the SnipArt Up In the Air Damask Stencil from the store and used it here with Finnabair's White Crackle Paste. I cut a piece of white crafting chicken wire to layer behind the butterfly and lace.

 The Studio75 Blank Cards are so sturdy and are perfect bases for my cards.

Dreamy Shabby Mixed Media Card Featuring Violet Love

I am so delighted to be part of the 2019 Studio75 Design Team
alongside these talented artists.

I simply adore working with Studio75 products.
Today I'm sharing my first DT project with you.

The gorgeous Violet Love Paper Collection is perfect for this romantic, dreamy card. There are hints of golden yellow in the paper so I accented with beautiful flowers and embellishments in this color.

Tips and Techniques

One of the gorgeous Violet 6x6" papers is the base for my card.

I like to have cards on hand for special events and with this "own your dream" sentiment, it would be perfect for a variety of events from a birthday, to graduation, or even a job promotion.

The Violet Love 07 page from the 12 x12" collection includes the gorgeous leaves and doily which I fussy cut to tuck under and around the cluster which includes lovely 49 and Market Flowers, pearls, Anemone chipboard flourishes, and metal embellishments from my stash.

Bambino glue dries matte and perfectly clear, so is perfect to adhere bling like these Prills and Finnabair Microbeads.

The beautiful paper has hints of warm golden yellow, so I edged the base with gold pastel color and before adhering the embellishments, I spattered the background with white drawing ink.

Here you can see more of the texture details and the chipboard was painted with Finnabair Sparks paint for shimmery finish.

The background is stenciled with Finnabair Light Paste using a bubble wrap stencil, and while the molding paste was still wet, I sprinkled it with super fine glitter to add some lovely sparkle.  Once dry, I spritzed with Lindy's Jazzy Jivin' Purple color mist and water to settle into the crevices and highlight the texture.

The Misz Masz chipboard butterfly is painted with more Sparks paints.

The embellished card front is adhered to a Studio75 6x6" Heavy Weight Card which is nice and sturdy to hold the heavy embellishments.

Mixed Media Art Brush with Silk Foam Flower for Scrap & Craft

Welcome to my creative space!

I've been seeing so many gorgeous mixed media altered paint brushes, that I just had to create one for myself. This started with an inexpensive 3-inch brush with a wooden handle. The handcrafted flowers is my first with Silk Foam from the Scrap & Craft Store. The gorgeous chipboard pieces are also from the store. Tips and Techniques

This handcrafted flower is created with Silk Foam, shaped with the Metal Ball Tool Set, and colored with Distress Oxide inks. The white Mini Stamen are also from the store. 

I don't think I'll be using Distress Oxides to color Foamiran or Silk Foam again even though I adore the colors. Since it is a more permanent ink, my hands were stained for days. :D 

 

The Anemone Fabian Ornaments Chipboard and Artistiko Cog from the Scrap & Craft store are heat embossed with pale gold embossing powder.

The wings are created with Prima Paper Clay in the Prima Wings & Locket Mould, set aside overnight to dry, then brushed with Finnabair's Sparks paint and Wax. Finnabair's metal "Art" piece is also brushed with Sparks Paint and wax. The brush has several layers of Finnabair's Impasto Paints and Sparks Paints along with gesso then finished off with a light brushing of her gold wax.

I used Bambino Glue from the store to adhere Finnabair's Regular and Mini Art Stones around the cluster. I thinned some of the Sparks Paint to brush over the Art Stones, then a light brushing with the gold wax to highlight the texture.

 

 This gorgeous Misz Masz Chipboard Butterfly is brushed with Sparks Paint and the edges with gold art wax. Bambino Glue is a great way to adhere microbeads for a textured body.

The handle of the brush is stenciled with Finnabair's Light Paste. The decorative metal piece is painted and waxed like the rest of the brush and centered with a coordinating rhinestone from my stash.

"Dream Big" Shabby Mixed Media Card ~ DT Inspiration for the Scrap & Craft July Challenge

Welcome to my Creative Space!

The July Challenge for Scrap & Craft has been posted and the theme is "summer." I've created this sunny mixed media card featuring the Studio75 Violet Love Collection as part of the DT inspiration for the challenge.

In this challenge you need to create any summer project! Use summer theme embellishments, colors or wording. You can create any project you want: layout, card, canvas, art journal page or OTP project.

Tips and Techniques

The sweet floral cluster includes Magnolia Flowers and an Ivory Mulberry Rose from the store along with a few Wild Orchid Crafts flowers from my stash. I tucked a few Prima Pearls into the empty spots.

The soft Organza Rose Trim is so lovely. Every girl loves some bling, so I added a sparkling rhinestone to the center of each blossom. 

The lovely Anemone Gaja Ornament chipboard is heat embossed with aged ivory embossing enamel, then the edges rubbed with Finnabair's Vintage Gold Wax. Don't be afraid to cut up your chippies. I snipped this one in half to extend out on each side of the cluster. The Scrapiniec Confetti Hearts include a ton of little hearts in three sizes. I heat embossed several in Raspberry and brushed with more of the gold wax.

Of course there needs to be a fluttering insect on any summery project. This Misz Masz Butterfly Chipboard Die Cut is embossed in aged ivory, then edged with raspberry and a touch of white gold wax over the body with a little rhinestone to add more bling.

The Violet Love background paper was dry brushed with white gesso, then stamped with two of the Agateria Grille stamps. I also added some spatter with Lindy's Gang Moonlit Mulberry Moon Shadow Mist and white drawing ink.

This delightful sentiment was cut from the 12 x12 Violet Love Paper Collection and edged with wisteria ink. The Anemone Fabian Chipboard Ornament is so perfect to anchor the sentiment. 

Bambino Glue is used to adhere texture elements from the Prills and Finnabair Microbeads around the flowers to the Confetti Hearts, mica shards, rhinestones, and sequins scattered around the card for texture.
