Forever Valentine for ScrapBerry's

"Forever Valentine"

Welcome back to my creative space. I'm back to share a new project featuring the gorgeous ScrapBerry's Juliet Paper Collection along with an assortment of their fabulous embellishments.

I've been sharing my excitement of becoming a grandmother for the first time through my paper crafting projects. Recently our son and lovely daughter-in-law revealed the name they've given our coming granddaughter ~ Avery. I've created this heart wall hanging for her. It's her first Valentine from me, a "Forever Valentine." I hope she'll be reminded of my love for her as she grows up seeing it hanging on her wall.

FTC Disclosure: I am currently working as a freelance designer for ScrapBerry's. While I am compensated in product, I maintain the freedom as an independent designer to say what I truly think of these products and will not recommend something that I don’t personally use and enjoy.

Tips and Techniques
ScrapBerry's creates such beautiful flowers in an array of lovely colors to go with any of their paper collections I've featured a sweet gardenia and curly rose here. I've also tucked in a few tiny flowers from my stash. See the purple rose below the gardenia? Its's one of the Rosebud Charms that I brushed with gesso, then colored with Distress Ink. The crystal flourish is from the Curls for Wedding 1 set.

The edge of the heart was painted with white gesso, then a stenciled design was added with molding paste. I highlighted the texture by rubbing lightly with ink.

From this angle you can see the love piece from the Weddings 3 Polymer Set topped with a Versailles Resin Chrysanthemum and chipboard key right below it from the Holiday Romance Collection. Tucked in at the top of the cluster I've used hearts from the Kid's Fun Polymer Set along with the sweet Winter Joy Bottle Cap. (The heart flourish chippie is from my stash.)

**Tip**
Water based mediums will bead up on resin/polymer and not stay true to color on raw chipboard, so I apply a quick coat of white gesso to these items and allow to dry before adding water based color. For these elements, I layered two colors of Distress Ink to coordinate with the gorgeous Juliet papers.

A little handcrafted heart I created from corrugated cardboard. I've used a mixture of Prills, tiny seed beeds, and microbeads from my stash here and around the flower cluster for added texture. The smaller purple hearts are more chippies from the Holiday Romance Collection.

For this banner with Avery's name, I simply cut triangles from Juliet paper and inked the edges. I laid them out and adhered them in place, then added a strip of lace across the top that I colored with Distress Ink. The wooden letters from my stash were colored with ink and spritzed with Iridescent Glitter Dust spray for some sweet girly sparkle (before adhering to the project).

My dear friend, Juliana Michaels, gave me this wood heart, and I knew right away that it would be perfect for creating a Forever Valentine for Avery. (You can visit Juliana's creative blog at 17turtles.) I traced and cut out the heart onto the Juliet paper, then used gel medium to adhere it to the wood heart. I rolled over it firmly with a brayer to make sure the paper was securely adhered, then set it aside dry for a few minutes. Once the paper was set in place, but the gel medium was still damp, I cut into the wood grooves to show the slats, then used a sanding block lightly over the paper to reveal the wood grain below. I also added a touch of spatter with drawing ink. I adore the texture this created on the background.

I hope you've been inspired to grab your ScrapBerry's products
and create a Valentine for someone special in your life.

Don't forget, love is the theme of the ScrapBerry’s January/February challenge.

True Love Is Forever Mixed Media Card for ScrapBerry's

Love is the theme of the January/February challenge at ScrapBerry’s, and the design
team has been busy creating projects to inspire you as you join along.

Be sure to stop on over at the ScrapBerry's blog for all the challenge details
and to be inspired by the rest of the design team creations HERE.

My parents will be celebrating 58 years of marriage this year, so I wanted to create a special card for them. I just adore this paper from ScrapBerry's Cherished Jewels Collection that includes the sweet sentiment "True Love Is Forever." How perfect for this card. I've included mixed media touches which I'll talk about below with the close-up photos.

FTC Disclosure: I am currently working as a freelance designer for ScrapBerry's. While I am compensated in product, I maintain the freedom as an independent designer to say what I truly think of these products and will not recommend something that I don’t personally use and enjoy.

Tips and Techniques
A sweet flower cluster featuring ScrapBerry's Clove, Daisy, and Cherry Blossom Flowers along with a few tiny flowers tucked in from my stash.

ScrapBerry's has beautiful gems and jewels. I've tucked in a pearl flourish from the Holidays 1 Collection as well as the sparkling Crystal Sticker and sweet resin rose from the Fairy Tale Flowers 1 Set. I used gel medium to adhere Prills around the cluster for extra texture.

The Holiday Romance Chipboard Set has pieces perfect for Valentine's Day and love themed cards. I heat embossed this key with embossing enamel for a vintage shabby feel and placed it to accent the sentiment.

Here's a close-up of the mixed media background I created. I applied molding paste with a flourish stencil first. When that design was dry, I added the hearts. I spritzed them with blush and gold mist, then dry brushed with gesso for a soft frosty finish.

**Tip**
Start by brushing the background paper with clear gesso when planning to use mixed media products, especially wet product like spray mists. This will help reduce warping on the paper.

Don't forget to hop on over to the ScrapBerry's blog for the
challenge details and gorgeous inspiration HERE.

Winter Tufted Titmouse DIY Mixed Media Layout with Christmas Cheer Scraps of Elegance Kit

I am awed by our Lord's creation. My sweet friend, Sandee Setliff, took this amazing photo and has graciously granted permission for me to create with it. This little tufted titmouse is taking in the snow while clasping a seed in her mouth. Such a serene and beautiful photo capturing the essence of winter.

work and more gorgeous photos on her blog,

I've seen several mixed media pieces recently with layered stenciling that caught my eye. I thought I'd give it a try on this layout and simply adore the effect. You can see how in this process video tutorial along with how I achieved the wintry texture on the chipboard.

Enjoy!

Sweet Baby Gift Tags for ScrapBerry's

Hello my dear paper crafting friends!!
I'm back to share my latest project featuring gorgeous ScrapBerry's products.

We are so excited about the coming arrival of our first grandchild who is due to arrive in about a month. As you might guess she is a sweet baby girl. Earlier this month I shared the card I created for the baby shower, and today I have two coordinating gift tags.

I've combined the beautiful ScrapBerry's In Bloom and The Art of Nature Collections to coordinate with the pink and grey color scheme of the shower.

FTC Disclosure: I am currently working as a freelance designer for ScrapBerry's. While I am compensated in product, I maintain the freedom as an independent designer to say what I truly think of these products and will not recommend something that I don’t personally use and enjoy.

Here are some close-ups of the first tag
The doily is die-cut from The Art of Nature Collection with a cluster of gorgeous ScrapBerry's flowers on top. I just adore how bits and pieces of different collections coordinate so perfectly. The sweet bottle cap is from the Winter Joy Collection. I've also tucked in a diadem and heart metal charms as well as chipboard from the Holiday Romance collection.

For added texture I stenciled molding paste across the tag, sprinkled with embossing powder, and heat set. The chipboard and charms are painted with white gesso, then colored with a spray mist that is brushed on. The flowers and other elements are dry brushed with gesso to soften the color and highlight textures.

Of course this is a baby tag, so I just had to include a little resin teddy bear from the Kid's Fun Polymer Set. The silver swirls on the background are stamped with the Fairy Tale clear stamp. I tied a bow with ScrapBerry's white Shabby Ribbon with tied white and beige Wax String at the top.

 . . . and the second tag

I've used the same lovely ScrapBerry's flowers on both tags along with the Diadem metal charms; however, on this one, I've tucked in a heart from the Floral Embroidery Crystal Stickers Decoration pack. I've also used more of the Holiday Romance Chipboard pieces.

This sweet horse rattle also comes from the Kit's Fun Polymer Set. **Tip** Resin resists water based color products, so if you want to color them with a product like color mist or watercolor paint, brush the resin piece with gesso and allow to dry. Then your color will stick to the decoration.

More mixed media textures.

I hope you've been inspired to grab your ScrapBerry's supplies to create a sweet tag for the next gift you give.

Craft Hoarders Anonymous January 2017 Blog Hop

Welcome to the January Craft Hoarders Anonymous Blog Hop.

Your favorite Hoarders are back for our first quarter hop! All of the participating designers are offering prizes, so make sure you check each blog! I have a chipboard prize package this month for one of our lucky hoppers (from the US). Scroll down for the details and a photo.

You should be coming to my blog from Gloria Stengel. She's also the first blogger in the hop if you would like to start at the beginning. Then after visiting me, hop over to Pam Bray! You can scroll down to the bottom of this post for a full list of designers participating in this month's blog hop.

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, I decided to create a love themed card. Really it could be used for a Valentine, birthday card, or even a feminine graduation card. This card is a bit of a twist for me. I tried to try to keep it flat so it could be mailed more easily. If you're a regular follower, You know that I generally use flowers and dimensional items that are pretty thick to put into an envelope to mail. With all the busyness of the Christmas and New Years holidays just behind me, I also wanted to make something that would be quick and easy to put together.

"Love Completely"
I used the BoBunny Rose Cafe Collection gifted to me by my dear friend, Juliana Michaels. I have had it in my stash for a while now, so it was great to pull it out and create this sweet card with it.

Close-Ups
Of course I had to include mixed media elements. I stenciled this lovely butterfly into the corner with molding paste, and while wet, sprinkled with embossing powder then heat set to give an enameled finish. The focal paper is dry brushed with gesso, then spattered with thinned gesso for visual dimension.

This layered chipboard piece gives some nice dimension without being too thick. I tucked in some flower pieces from the Noteworthy pack. I used the edge of my scissors to distress the edges of the background papers as well as the sentiment and flags - a quick and easy way to add dimension without making the card too thick.

Now, it's prize time!!

I pulled together a selection of chipboard pieces to send to one of our hoppers. All you have to do is comment on this post. (Because of the cost of international shipping, the prize is available for US hoppers only.)

I will announce a randomly selected winner on January 12, so be sure to drop back by to see if it's you. In the event that I do not hear from the winner within one week, I will draw another name.

Follow me here

Your next stop on the Craft Hoarders Anonymous Blog Hop is the talented Pam Bray. If you have dropped by my blog and would like to start at the beginning, be sure to hop on over to Gloria's blog HERE.

Mixed Media Baby Congratulations Card for ScrapBerry's

We are looking forward to welcoming our first grandchild in February. Our son and his lovely wife are expecting a little girl. I’ve created this sweet card for their baby shower featuring gorgeous ScrapBerry’s papers and embellishments. Rachel’s shower colors are pink and grey, so these papers from The Art of Nature and In Bloom Collections worked perfectly.

I'm up on the ScrapBerry's blog HERE.
Thanks for dropping by their blog to leave a comment.

FTC Disclosure: I am currently working as a freelance designer for ScrapBerry's. While I am compensated in product, I maintain the freedom as an independent designer to say what I truly think of these products and will not recommend something that I don’t personally use and enjoy.

Tips and Techniques
I arranged fabulous ScrapBerry’s flowers around the beautiful Rose Garden metal framed “Congratulations” piece which is dry brushed with gesso for a vintage look.

The white Fairy Tale resin flowers and Wedding frame are painted with white gesso, then dripped with glimmer mist to color. The flowers and embellishments are dry brushed with gesso to soften.

I just had to tuck this sweet Kid’s Fun resin baby rattle into the cluster. It’s also brushed with gesso and mist to color. The ScrapBerry’s Birds of Paradise chipboard feathers extend the design so beautifully. To add texture, the background is stenciled with molding paste then sprinkled with glittered pink/white embossing powder while wet and heat set.

A mix of art stones and prills are adhered into the sweet resin frame from the Wedding Polymer Set for added texture.
