Sweet Floral Bird Card for ScrapBerry's

Welcome to my creative space!

I enjoy creating cards for family and friends and adding personal touches just for them. One of my friends adores birds, so the images in ScrapBerry's Garden of Delights Collection along with one of their Bird on the Perch Charms were just perfect to create a lovely card for her. I've also pulled a chipboard bird frame and a wooden bird cage from my stash to add to the bird theme.

Tips and Techniques

This sweet cluster includes a ScrapBerry's Cherry Blossom and Stemmed Lily as well as a Bird on the Perch Charm. I've also tucked in a few Wild Orchid Crafts Flowers. The Cards 1 page included this darling bird image. 

I added a Blue Fern Studios chipboard frame and KaiserCraft wooden birdcage. The frame is heat embossed with bronze embossing powder while the cage and Blue Fern Bits Of Honey chipboard are embossed in white. The lace is a piece I picked up at JoAnn's a few years back.

I rubbed the darling charm with Finnabair's Butterfly Spells Sparks paint and finished by rubbing with her Vintage Gold and Aged Brass Metallique Wax. The background is stenciled with Finnabair Light Paste and spritzed with Lindy's Creme Brûlée Cream Starburst mist and Blue Fern Studios Sky Color Mist to add texture.

This piece is molded with Prima's IOD Paper Clay and Keyholes Mould, painted with Butterfly Spells Sparks paint then rubbed with vintage gold and aged brass wax. I created more texture on the background with cheesecloth, punchinella mesh, Prills, pearls, and rhinestones.

Our sweet daughter-in-law took this adorable photo of Avery with her first pumpkin at the picking patch. I couldn't resist making a fall themed layout with the gorgeous Scraps of Elegance "Falling Leaves" Kit. I've also created a process video tutorial to share how I've put it all together including the fun chipboard pumpkin accent which has been painted, heat embossed, glittered, and gilded in four easy steps.

Autumn Mixed Media Cards and PROCESS VIDEO TUTORIAL with Scraps of Elegance September Kit

Welcome to my creative space!

Today I'm sharing a set of autumn mixed media cards and process video tutorial created with the gorgeous "Falling Leaves" Scraps of Elegance September Kit. This kit is just amazing to work with. I have several fun techniques using the Creativity Add On to share with you in the video. 

Although I've used the same paper and similar embellishments, these cards have different looks. The card on the left is showcased in the video and is a Thanksgiving card for our son and his wife. Rachel loves to decorate for each season, and this will be a keepsake she can set out each fall. The card on the right is for our daughter, Elizabeth, and her husband who celebrate their five year anniversary this month. The printed chipboard, diecuts, and word stickers worked together so perfectly for this autumn anniversary card.

Mixed Media Thank You Cards & TECHNIQUE VIDEO Featuring Prima Soft Oil Pastels with the February Scraps of Elegance Kit.

Welcome to my creative space!! I'm back to share a technique video with you featuring the Scraps of Elegance Watercolor Wishes February Mixed Media/Creativity Add On.

I'm so excited each month to see what fresh new mixed media product(s) Melinda has included in the kit and add ons. The February Creativity Add On includes Prima Soft Oil Pastels. I've not worked with oil pastels before, so enjoyed spending some time experimenting with several types of paper and inks to see what would work best to color the 49 and Market Gabi's Hibiscus flowers that I fussy cut for the focal flowers on a set of mixed media thank you cards.

The Kaisercraft Oui Oiu paper is dry brushed with white gesso then edged with blue oil pastels. I used the Kaisercraft Cherry Blossom stencil to apply texture then rubbed with Aquamarine Viva Gold to highlight. Pastel Art Gems add such lovely dimension.

 

I wanted a soft backdrop for these sweet flowers, so layered cheesecloth, white feathers, and burlap threads over one of the Momenta Watercolor Doilies.

 

I adore texture so used a mix of Minni Pearl and Coral See Prills sprinkled with Prima Pearl Glass Glitter across the card. You  can see a little of the stenciled texture peeking out from under the cheese cloth too.

"Love Forever" DIY Home Decor Heart and PROCESS VIDEO TUTORIAL with the January 2017 Scraps of Elegance Kit

I'm so excited to share my latest project for Scraps of Elegance with a process video tutorial. This Crate Paper Color Reveal Watercolor Heart Panel is the January exclusive OTP Add On and was a dream to work with. It is a watercolor panel stretched over a heart frame. So it has the feel of a canvas, but the properties of watercolor paper. Just perfect for a Valentine's home decor project when paired up with all the gorgeous elements in the Main Kit and Add Ons.

Winter Tufted Titmouse DIY Mixed Media Layout with Christmas Cheer Scraps of Elegance Kit

I am awed by our Lord's creation. My sweet friend, Sandee Setliff, took this amazing photo and has graciously granted permission for me to create with it. This little tufted titmouse is taking in the snow while clasping a seed in her mouth. Such a serene and beautiful photo capturing the essence of winter.

I've seen several mixed media pieces recently with layered stenciling that caught my eye. I thought I'd give it a try on this layout and simply adore the effect. You can see how in this process video tutorial along with how I achieved the wintry texture on the chipboard.
