"The Adventure Begins" Mixed Media Card for Studio75

Welcome to my creative space!

Today I have a sweet card to share with you featuring the fabulous Studio75 Berry Copse paper collection along with beautiful chipboard from the store.

The current Studio75 challenge is to create something for Mother's Day. Our daughter and her husband had their first child, a little boy, two month's ago. Being a mom is such a wonderful experience that I thought this sentiment that says "and so the adventure begins" would be perfect for this card that I created to celebrate her very first Mother's Day.

Tips and Techniques

The papers from the Berry Copse collection have such gorgeous, rich colors and designs as seen in this beautiful green background paper. I added a leaf design stenciled with molding paste and stamped opposite corners with an Agateria grille stamp from the store.

I combined succulents, burlap flowers and dimensional flowers from Little Birdie Crafts at A.C. Moore to create a focal cluster. I heat embossed Scrapiniec Confetti Chipboard Hearts and Artistico HDF Cogs with Stampendous Shabby White Embossing Enamel as well as a Finnabair Mechanicals metal gear and tucked them in around the edges of the cluster.

For added interest, I tucked in a few Pistachio Stamen and then filled in with some green US ArtQuest Prills adhered with Bambino Glue. Don't you think this sentiment is just perfect for a first Mother's Day?

I simply adore that each and every Studio75 paper collection includes such gorgeous images to fussy cut. These leaves and berries are found on the 03/04 paper strip. 

The burlap flowers are lightly dry brushed with white gesso for a softer look.

More fussy cutting. You can also see that I tucked in a pearl and several sparkling FinnaBair Sugar Art Pebbles. The background is stenciled with Finnabair Paper Texture Paste using this TCW Mini Jungle Vines Stencil designed by Gabrielle Pollacco.

And one final close-up of the cog. I recently added a few bee charms to my stash and couldn't resist adding them here. They are silver, but I rubbed gold art wax over them so they would better coordinate with the other elements.

Spring Mixed Media ATCs for Studio75

Welcome to my creative space!

I don't know about you, but I'm ready for the warming temperatures, sweet flowers, fluttering butterflies, and even the crawling, colorful insects that come with spring. This sweet set of spring ATC cards features the fabulous Studio75 Berry Copse Paper Collection. I simply adore the gorgeous colors found in this collection which work so perfectly for the Studio75 Spring Color Challenge linked at the bottom of this post.

Tips and Techniques

I cut papers from the 6x6" Berry Copse Paper Set to ATC size and adhered them to ATC cards with soft gel medium. Brush the gel medium on the front of the ATC card and the back of the paper then place with gelled sides together. I like to place a sheet of plain typing paper on top and roll firmly with a brayer to make sure the paper is well adhered to the card.

***Tip*** The frame shop at my local craft store sells the inside pieces from the mats they cut to frame art for a great price. I bought a couple of these pieces and cut them to ATC size. It's an inexpensive way to get bunches of nice, durable ATC bases.

I've stamped a variety of script and mixed media images onto the backgrounds then stenciled Finnabair Icing Paste in coordinating colors.You can also find beautifully colored pastes for stenciling in the mixed media supplies section of the Studio75 store HERE. The edges are rubbed with metallic Bronze PanPastels.

The insects are stamped using the Tim Holtz Entomology Stamp Set and colored with watercolor markers then die cut. The beetles have a coat of glossy accents applied to the body area to give the appearance of a shiny outer shell.

I've added 49 and Market flowers, Finnabair Mechanical gears, and sentiments from the Tim Holtz Small Talk pack to each card which are colored with Distress Ink. A wash of black watercolor is added under each of the sentiments.

Finally, I used Bambino Glue to adhere Prills and Finnabair microbeads around the clusters and randomly across the cards. This adhesive dries matte and perfectly clear, so is the perfect adhesive for adding this beaded bling!

Industrial Steampunk Card for Studio75

Welcome to my creative space!

I created this card for our son-in-law's birthday featuring the fabulous Studio75 Cherry Blossom Collection. He had his first book published this past year, so I stamped the background with a vintage typewriter patent image to celebrate his special accomplishment. Don't you just adore how perfectly this fabulous grungy paper works with the vintage image and industrial/steampunk elements?

Tips and Techniques

I have arranged a mix of masculine metal elements from Finnabair, Tim Holtz, and found items along with resin wings created with Prima silicone moulds. I arranged larger items toward the center working outward with smaller items to give movement so your eye moves across the card.

 

The elements are brushed with Finnabair's Rust and Patina Effects Paste, then spritzed with water so it looks like they have weathered onto the card. I also rubbed of Finnabairs copper wax as a final layer to enhance the patina effect.

 

Grid marks are stenciled onto the background with Finnabair's white gold Icing Paste using The Crafter's Workshop Mini Sketch Grid Stencil.

  

 A close-up to see how wonderfully this paper works with the grungy texture.

 

This chain from the Scrapiniec Flying Hearts Chipboard Set combines perfectly with the other elements. It is also brushed with rust and patina paste, then rubbed with copper wax to give a vintage metallic look.

 

 These Scrapiniec Confetti Chipboard Stars are painted the same way as the chain.

 

One final close-up to see the grungy texture. Little seed beads and Finnabair microbeads are adhered with Bambino Glue. 

****Tip**** The impressed "life" sentiment on the metal tag became obscured by the media I used, so I used a sharpie marker to fill in the letters to make them visible again.

"You Are in My Heart" Altered Heart for Studio75 DT for February Challenge

It's time for the first Studio75 challenge of 2019.

The theme:

Make any box, in any technique. The box, you will fill with love.

I adore altering trinket boxes and this oval paper maché box is covered with paper from the gorgeous Studio75 Violet Love Collection. 

Tips and Techniques

In addition to covering the box with Violet Love paper, I fussy cut the sweet flowers and leaves from one of the add on papers as well as the "You are in my heart" sentiment strip. The filigree heart tucked in is an Anemone Fantiazja Corner Chipboard piece topped with Ranger Pale Gold embossing powder. 

The top of the lid is stenciled using Mini Many Textures TCW Stencil with Finnabair's Rose Gold Icing Paste. More icing paste is stenciled around the sentiment using the Mini Well Rounded and Mini Texturized TCW Stencils. A touch of lace is adhered around the top of the lid with Bambino Glue.

*****Tip*****

When covering a box with paper, make sure the lid fits loosely, or one you add the paper, you may not get the lid to fit back on over the layer of added paper. If the lid fits tight, you could cover to box just to the edge of the lid. 

The sweet pale pink roses are from the Studio75 store and the other flowers are from Little Birdie Crafts and 49 and Market. I also tucked in a couple metal leaves I found in the jewelry department of my local craft store. The floral heart is one I've had in my stash for several years. I gave it new life by painting it with white gesso and then rubbing with Finnabair's Rose Gold Metallique Wax. Finally, there's a bit of texture with Prills and Finnabair's Microbeads adhered with Bambino Glue.
