Encouragement Card with Tutorial Link for Watercolor Die Cuts

 

Welcome to my creative space!

Sometimes I create a card with a specific person and event in mind, but I also like to have cards in my stash that are versatile and can be used for a variety of events. The sweet sentiment from the Amazing Paper Grace Just a Note Sentiments Tag Clear Stamp & Die Set (SDS-169) is so encouraging and could be used for a birthday, graduation, thank you, or a note of encouragement. 

I've used watercolors to create unique patterned paper for my die cut images including these amazing scrolled brackets from the Amazing Paper Grace Perfect Harmony Notecard Embellishments Set (S4-1149) and the smallest rectangle from the Fluted Classics Rectangles Dies (S5-475). You can find the full tutorial exclusively in the Amazing Paper Grace Creative - Creative Encouragement Community Facebook Group.

I wanted to keep the embellishments light and airy to help the watercolor diecuts to pop, so used creamy mulberry paper to cut the small cabbage roses and rose buds. The flowers are foliage are cut with the fabulous Candlewick Rosebud Dies Candlewick Sampler Collection (S4-1015) using the smallest blossom in the set. These dies create amazing roses!

Close-Ups

Here's a close-up of these gorgeous blossoms. I spritzed the back of the mulberry paper lightly before shaping. Three sets of petals are used to form the blossom which is shaped around a large stamen. I found these pearl colored stamen a while back in the bridal section of a local craft store. The rose buds are one set of petals shaped the same way, but glued down to the stamen to form the bud.

The floral heart charm from my stash is colored with Prima Metallic waxes to coordinate with the focal paper. I tucked in a few pearls and prills to fill out the cluster.

I wet and crinkled a length of rayon seam binding, then once dry, tied a triple loop bow for this lower cluster.

You can see in this photo how beautiful the watercolor die cut looks against the pink focal paper.

Follow Your Dreams Card with Alcohol Ink Background for Little Birdie Crafts

Welcome to my creative space!

Alcohol inks are trending right now so I was excited to pull out my Little Birdie Crafts Alcohol Splash to create this gorgeous and vibrant card background. Alcohol Splash is a collection of alcohol ink sprays in fabulous colors with gold mixative in each bottle to add beautiful shimmer. Industrial Steampunk Card for Studio75

Welcome to my creative space!

I created this card for our son-in-law's birthday featuring the fabulous Studio75 Cherry Blossom Collection. He had his first book published this past year, so I stamped the background with a vintage typewriter patent image to celebrate his special accomplishment. Don't you just adore how perfectly this fabulous grungy paper works with the vintage image and industrial/steampunk elements?

Tips and Techniques

I have arranged a mix of masculine metal elements from Finnabair, Tim Holtz, and found items along with resin wings created with Prima silicone moulds. I arranged larger items toward the center working outward with smaller items to give movement so your eye moves across the card.

 

The elements are brushed with Finnabair's Rust and Patina Effects Paste, then spritzed with water so it looks like they have weathered onto the card. I also rubbed of Finnabairs copper wax as a final layer to enhance the patina effect.

 

Grid marks are stenciled onto the background with Finnabair's white gold Icing Paste using The Crafter's Workshop Mini Sketch Grid Stencil.

  

 A close-up to see how wonderfully this paper works with the grungy texture.

 

This chain from the Scrapiniec Flying Hearts Chipboard Set combines perfectly with the other elements. It is also brushed with rust and patina paste, then rubbed with copper wax to give a vintage metallic look.

 

 These Scrapiniec Confetti Chipboard Stars are painted the same way as the chain.

 

One final close-up to see the grungy texture. Little seed beads and Finnabair microbeads are adhered with Bambino Glue. 

****Tip**** The impressed "life" sentiment on the metal tag became obscured by the media I used, so I used a sharpie marker to fill in the letters to make them visible again.

Dreamy Shabby Mixed Media Card Featuring Violet Love

I am so delighted to be part of the 2019 Studio75 Design Team
alongside these talented artists.

I simply adore working with Studio75 products.
Today I'm sharing my first DT project with you.

The gorgeous Violet Love Paper Collection is perfect for this romantic, dreamy card. There are hints of golden yellow in the paper so I accented with beautiful flowers and embellishments in this color.

Tips and Techniques

One of the gorgeous Violet 6x6" papers is the base for my card.

I like to have cards on hand for special events and with this "own your dream" sentiment, it would be perfect for a variety of events from a birthday, to graduation, or even a job promotion.

The Violet Love 07 page from the 12 x12" collection includes the gorgeous leaves and doily which I fussy cut to tuck under and around the cluster which includes lovely 49 and Market Flowers, pearls, Anemone chipboard flourishes, and metal embellishments from my stash.

Bambino glue dries matte and perfectly clear, so is perfect to adhere bling like these Prills and Finnabair Microbeads.

The beautiful paper has hints of warm golden yellow, so I edged the base with gold pastel color and before adhering the embellishments, I spattered the background with white drawing ink.

Here you can see more of the texture details and the chipboard was painted with Finnabair Sparks paint for shimmery finish.

The background is stenciled with Finnabair Light Paste using a bubble wrap stencil, and while the molding paste was still wet, I sprinkled it with super fine glitter to add some lovely sparkle.  Once dry, I spritzed with Lindy's Jazzy Jivin' Purple color mist and water to settle into the crevices and highlight the texture.

The Misz Masz chipboard butterfly is painted with more Sparks paints.

The embellished card front is adhered to a Studio75 6x6" Heavy Weight Card which is nice and sturdy to hold the heavy embellishments.
