"Love" Anniversary Card with Handcrafted Flowers for Donna Salazar Designs

Hi my dear friends!! Wishing you a happy Friday. I hope you have some papercrafting plans for this weekend!! I'll be creating with some lovely church gals on Saturday. 

Our son and his beautiful wife have their five year wedding anniversary coming up, so I've created a card to celebrate this special event. Joseph loves to fish and Rachel encourages him in his endeavors. When Joseph realized that she was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with, he planned a boat ride (in his bass boat of course) on the lake under a starlit night sky to ask her to marry him. Then last year they found their dream home on that very lake. So when I found this vintage image of a fun and loving couple on a boat, I knew it would be perfect for this anniversary card.

Do you ever create a project, and it becomes one of your favorites. That's just how I feel about this card with these gorgeous colors and cool textures.

Melinda is the master of putting together gorgeous kits, and this "Belle Journée" May Kit has been such a delight to work with. 

If you are a regular follower, you know that I adore experimenting and using things in unusual ways, so I had fun playing with the Epiphany Crafts Hex Bubble Caps included in the Elements Add On. I've transformed this normally trendy product into a grungy, shabby element for my cards. "The Alamo Archways" Mixed Media Layout for Donna Salazar Designs

Hi my dear crafty friends! I have a new Creative Team project for Donna Salazar Designs with a girlie grunge layout featuring some of her Spellbinder and Donna Salazar with Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L products.

Gary and I recently took a trip to the lovely city of San Antonio, Texas. While there we visited the site of the Alamo filled with rich history. This long archway struck me with it's beauty. I've been working my way through using all 20 of Donna's fabulous new Spellbinder products released last month. I've tucked a die cut created with her Cascading Stars etched die under and next to the photo. So perfect to give a patriotic touch. Of course you know how much I enjoy creating hand crafted flowers, so have also paired Donna's new Big Blossom and Jumbo Rose dies with her classic Bitty Blossoms and Rose creations for these girlie grunge flowers. I've added grungy color by mixing Donna Salazar with Scrapbook Adhesive by 3L Pigment Powders into her Girlie Grunge Art Medium. Watercolor Poppies with VIDEO TUTORIAL ~ Scraps of Elegance April Kit

It is always so exciting when I have the opportunity to learn and develop a new technique. I was so thrilled to receive the Creativity Add on with the Prima Water Soluble Oil Pastels, Himalayan Poppy stamp, and Prima Water brushes along with the Color Add On Brusho Crystals. I heat embossed the stamped image and watercolored the gorgeous poppies. I am not a watercolor artist, so I gave myself the freedom to paint samples to help learn techniques as well figuring out color selection. 

I have created a technique video sharing how to watercolor this fabulous image with the Creativity and Color Add On products.

To finish the image for this card, I rubbed ThermoWeb Deco Foil Transfer Adhesive across a foam makeup sponge and used it to apply the adhesive to a script stamp which I used around the edges and in to the poppy image. I let it sit until completely dry then applied the gold Deco Foil from the main kit. As I suspected with using such a detailed stamp, the gold did not adhere to all of the stamping. I pulled out my Sweet Violet Purple Teal Lindy's Stamp Gang Magicals from a previous SOE kit and rubbed it lightly across the card, which left a lovely halo of purple around the poppies and darkened into a lovely teal on the stamped areas. To deepen the shading around the edges, I rubbed Donna Salazar with Clearsnap Mix'd Media Inx in Wisteria, then went over that very, very lightly with Indigo. The outer paper border is the BoBunny Garland paper from the Main Kit, stamped with a grungy stamp in Wisteria. Finally I added a sentiment stamped on vellum.

"Big Catch" Mixed Media Layout with VIDEO TUTORIAL - Scraps of Elegance November Kit

December is here and such a special time of the year as we prepare for the holidays with friends and family to celebrate the birth of our Savior. I hope you are enjoying the season.

Our son is an avid angler, and particularly enjoys fishing for bass. He recently caught a career record 5.5 pound largemouth bass. The November Scraps of Elegance kit contains gorgeous papers and elements to create a rustic layout to capture this happy moment.
