Cherry Blossom Wedding Card for Amazing Paper Grace

Welcome to my creative space.

It's the season for weddings, and I thought these Amazing Paper Grace cherry blossoms would be perfect for a spring wedding card. I just adore that this fabulous Layered Cherry Blossoms set (S4-1194) has four distinctively different blossoms and includes leaf dies as well as three stem dies so that you can vary the design depending on the size and shape of your card. 

I've created a shaped card using the elegant Eyelet Lace Frame die set (S6-184), The frame is a lovely music printed paper and the center is a delicate and elegant damask, a perfect backdrop for these beautiful cherry blossoms.

Tips and Techniques:

Aren't these blossoms so sweet and beautiful? Each of the four different blossoms has an individual die that cuts all the pieces to form that flower, making these so easy to put together. I used a finger dabber to apply light pink ink into the centers and bases of the petals and just lightly around the edges. I cupped the petals with a stylus on a foam pad, but they could easily be shaped with your fingers if you don't have a stylus in the right size. I inked white cardstock with green ink to die cut the bases for the buds and partially opened blossoms.

I inked a small piece of cardstock with light yellow ink to die cut the stamen which are added to the centers of the fully opened blossoms and adhered a few prills into the middle of these stamen.

I used more of the green inked paper to die cut the leaves. There are four leaf dies in two sizes which allows for a more natural, organic look. I've used a shaped base cut with the Eyelet Lace Frame die set (S6-184) and backed it with a light brown paper to show through the eyelets. 

The sentiment is stamped in a coordinating brown ink. I didn't have quite the right color of ink, so stamped it using a stamp platform with a lighter brown first, that was just a little too green, then lightly stamped over that with a darker brown that was a bit too dark on its own to get the perfect color. Once it was good and dry, I fussy cut it out and popped it up using foam tape, then arranged the floral branches around it. 

There are three branch dies making it easy to give a lot of versatility to this set. You can cut as many branches as desired, but I've just cut each one once for this branch of blossoms. I cut them from the same brown paper that's peeking through the eyelets, then inked it to highlight the embossing.

I also went in and added a bit of extra green ink around the leave edges to add some natural shading.

"Best Wishes" Wedding Card for Studio75

Welcome to my creative space!

I'm back to share a sweet wedding card featuring the dreamy Hello Spring Collection with such gorgeous colors and images.

I've also used a lovely Scrapiniec chipboard frame and butterfly from the store.

Tips and Techniques

  

 One of the things I adore about Studio75 paper collections is that they are such complete collections including patterned paper and gorgeous images to fussy cut. Even the back of the package label includes beautifully printed paper including this design that I used as the focal piece for my card. The Scrapiniec Lily of the Valley Oval Frame is so perfect to surround the delightful floral image as well as some gorgeous Little Birdie Crafts flowers. Lily of the Valley are one of my favorite flowers and so perfect for a wedding card!

 

 I tied a little four-loop bow from white twine to tuck in among the flowers.

 

 The focal paper is layered over another paper cut from the Hello Spring Collection and the edges of both are distressed to add texture and interest.

 

A close-up of the top of the card showing a fussy cut flower and leaves as well as the chipboard frame. The frame is heat embossed with shabby white embossing enamel which includes flecks of gold and glitter. A bit of vintage lace is tucked under the fussy cut flower.

  

The Scrapiniec Open Mix Butterfly set has such sweet butterflies including this little gem. I heat embossed with Ranger Seafoam White Embossing Powder, then added Sparkle N Sprinkle Raspberry Sherbet around the edges to coordinate with the colors in the paper design. I used Bambino Glue to adhere Prills to the body.

 

More of the fussy cut leaves layered over bits of white lace. I also tucked in 1mm White Stamen from the store.

 

 A sentiment cut from the paper collection. So perfect for this sweet wedding card.

Shabby Mixed Media Wedding Card for ScrapBerry's

Welcome to my creative space!

Weddings are such special occasions! ScrapBerry's gorgeous Winter Joy Collection was absolutely perfect to create a card for the sweet couple's snowy winter wedding.

Tips and Techniques

You can see the gorgeous ScrapBerry's cream gardenia here used as the focal point of the cluster. I filled out the arrangement with Wild Orchid Crafts flowers. They are dry brushed with white gesso to soften the colors and give a snowy feel. Loops of ScrapBerry's Wax String add so much lovely texture tucked behind the flowers and their Wedding 2 Resin Chrysanthemum is a sweet little touch. White ink spatter adds to a wintry snowy feel, and I've distressed the paper edges to give a rustic, shabby look.

These ScrapBerry's Winter Joy papers have such soft and delightful designs that worked so perfectly for this shabby mixed media wedding card. The ScrapBerry's Polymer wedding sentiment was brushed with gesso, then when dry with gold color spray. It's finished off with a dusting of super fine glitter that reminds me of glistening snow.

I added a chipboard chandelier from Dusty Attic colored with embossing powder, then rubbed with a bit of Finnabair's Rose Gold Wax and bejeweled with teardrop pearls. The background is stenciled with a mixture of gel medium, microbeads and glitter, then dusted with more super fine glitter while still wet. The Art Anthology Lotus stencil reminds me of the wedding ring quilt my grandmother created and gave to us on our wedding day.

Wedding Card by Tracey Sabella for Helmar

Hi everyone!! I have a new project up on the Helmar blog today with a wedding card featuring Helmar Fabric Glue.

My dear scrapbooking friend, Mandy was married last month. We've been friends for many years and have spent many an hour creating together, so I wanted to create something extra special for her. The focal piece of my card is a chipboard mannequin I dressed up with eyelash yarn and feathers. Helmar Fabric Glue is the perfect adhesive for this task.

Tips and Techniques

I started by painting the chipboard with a pearlescent medium. It's not shown here, but I precut the yarn pieces a little longer than the distance between the waist and the hem.

I squeezed out a line of Helmar Fabric Glue across the waist,

and placed the yarn and feathers into this bead of glue.

I covered the glued area by adhering a strip of ribbon across the waist, over the edge of the yarn pieces. I finished it off with a strip of pearls and tiny rose buds. These are all adhered with Helmar Fabric Glue as well.

I painted this delightful chipboard corner flourish and added half pearls to embellish. Because the background is uneven from the stenciling, I needed a strong adhesive to hold it in place. Of course I grabbed my Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive for this job.

I stamped the love sentiment on a scrap of cardstock. I wanted it to lay flat, so I used Helmar Clear Zapdots where there was no stenciling and a dab of Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive

on the stenciled areas. Because the clear Zapdots are so thin, they gave just the right amount of dimension to help my sentiment to sit evenly on the card.

I brushed little dabs of Helmar Super-Tac EVA Glue below the

sentiment and sprinkle with iridescent shaved ice flakes. 

Here I used more Helmar Fabric Glue to adhere burlap and hand dyed lace to the bottom of the card.

Mixed Media Wedding Card for Helmar

Weddings are such special occasions. I created this card for our cousin who will be married in a couple weeks. I've used Helmar Fabric Glue to adhere layers of lace onto the card and show how I arranged and adhered the circle of lace beneath the flower.

Tips and Techniques

In the past, I would have stitched the edge of the lace to gather before placing on the card. Instead, I've used Helmar Fabric Glue to arrange, position and adhere. I squeezed out some glue in the center of the doily as shown.

Next, I bunched the edge of the lace together with my fingers to form a half medallion and set it into the Helmar Fabric Glue. This adhesive works perfectly because it gives me time to work with the lace and position it just right, then sets within a minute or so to hold it in place. 

Before adhering the paper doily in place, I adhered a strip of lace across the card using Helmar Fabric Glue, just down the center of the lace where it would not be visible on the finished card. Then once the doily and lace medallion were in place, I adhered the smaller scalloped lace and ribbon roses using more of the Helmar Fabric Glue.

I've been working on cleaning out my scrappy area and had thrown some scraps of white cardstock into the trash. As I was designing this card, I decided to rescue those scraps to create my focal flower using the Sizzix Tattered Florals Die (Tim Holtz). I adhered the flower layers together using Helmar Super-Tac EVA Glue. If you're looking for stamens to use for handcrafted flower centers, check out the wedding floral department of your local craft store.

I know, I know - It looks like I've covered up most of that lace medallion I created; however, the layers add so much lovely dimension as seen here, and the card just wouldn't be the same without those details. 

Because I have created a mixed media background, most of my other elements such as the bow, flower, and die cut leaves are adhered with Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive.

The base of my card front is a piece of patterned cardstock weight paper that I gessoed, painted. stenciled, stitched and distressed. After decorating I adhered it to my card base using Helmar Premium Craft Glue.

Always & Forever Wedding Card for Leaky Shed Studio

I've stepped away from mixed media today to share a wedding card created for Leaky Shed Studio. I wanted the card to have an elegant feel. The damask and heart shapes fit perfectly with this design. What is a wedding without bling? I've glittered my Leaky Shed Studio chipboard pieces to add an elegant sparkly touch to this card.

Tips and Techniques

Leaky Shed Studio has a large variety of styles in their chipboard. I wanted this card to have an elegant feel, so I selected this Large Damask piece to layer behind my flower. I'm always cutting my chipboard into pieces and this is no exception. I cut the damask into two pieces with the flower hiding the cut edges.

Here's a close-up where you can see how glittered this is. It is such an easy technique. I painted the Large Damask piece with black gesso, but any coordinating paint will work. Once dry, I spread glue across the piece and sprinkled with fine black glitter. My favorite glue for glitter applications is Art Institute Designer Dries Clear, which really holds the glitter in place.

I also glittered one of the Medium #2 Hearts as an accent. I pulled out the older Enchanted collection from BoBunny to work with. Yes, the wedding colors include purple, which I've accented with. I've done lots of layering, stitching and even some fussy cutting here and inked some of the edges to highlight.
