"Be True" Mixed Media Valentine Wall Hanging for Studio75

Valentine's Day is just around the corner. I created this sweet wall hanging with the holiday in mind. Here in the US we have candy conversation hearts with fun sentiments like "Be Mine." I thought this "Be True" sentiment was perfect for love themed decor and the gorgeous Violet Love Collection paper has perfectly romantic colors.

Tips and Techniques

Do you remember the BoBunny shaped chipboard mini albums? I have some odds and ends pieces from those books and used one as the base for my wall hanging. I traced around the chipboard shape onto the gorgeous Violet Love paper, then cut it out. Soft get medium was brushed on both the chipboard and the back of the paper to adhere. Once dry, I lightly sanded the edges to blend the paper nicely on the chipboard. 

I clustered lovely 49 and Market flowers over a butterfly chipboard frame that I heat embossed, then tucked in Artistico Cogs from the Studio75 Store. The cogs are rubbed with Finnabair's Vintage Gold and Amethyst Magic waxes to color and give a metallic sheen.

Here's a close-up shot of the gorgeous textures. The background is stenciled using Finnabair's White Crackle paste and allowed to sit overnight to dry and crack. I have found that most crackle mediums work best when allowed to air dry. Once dry, I misted lightly with Lindy's Jazy Jivin' Purple mist and water to fill in and highlight the cracks.

I used fabulous Bambino Glue to adhere bits of lace along withFinnabair's Art Stones and microbeads for texture. Since it dries matte, it's perfect to apply mixed media texture products. The edges are rubbed with the same waxes.

A nice way to add texture is to wrap randomly with twine. 

I misted the white flowers with water then brushed a little bit of Lindy's spray to the centers. I also lightly brushed a little color onto the sentiment chip.
