I am so fortunate to have my lovely mother in my life and have created a sweet mixed media card for this special occasion featuring the gorgeous Studio75 Violet Love collection as well as Scrapiniec chipboard and organza rose trim from the store and beautiful Little Birdie Crafts Flowers that can be found at A.C. Moore stores.
Tips and Techniques
This lavender chipboard from Scrapiniec just called for texture to give the feel of real lavender. First I mixed Finnabair's Impasto paints to brush the blossoms with lavender and the leaves and stems with green. (I have only the basic color set of impasto's, but they can be mixed to create nearly any color I need.) Then Bambino glue was brushed across the blossoms with Prills are sprinkled on for the lovely texture.
I arranged gorgeous flowers from Little Birdie Crafts available at A.C. Moore below the lavender along with an Organza Rose I cut from a strip of this gorgeous trim available in the Studio75 store.
The metal butterfly is colored with Finnabair's fabulous new metallic color waxes in Heather Hills and Electric Violet.
This paper is so beautiful that I didn't do too much to the background. I used a script stamp lightly around some of the edges. I also stenciled a delicate design diagonally across the base using the Lotus Stencil from Art Anthology then lightly dry brushed over the design with white gesso to make it a little more visible. Finally I scattered some of these sweet Scrapiniec Confetti Hearts across the card.
