Amazing Paper Grace August 2022 Die of the Month: Peekaboo Trellis Panels

Welcome to my creative space!

I just adore the gorgeous flowers and fluttering butterflies that summer brings our way, so created this summery card featuring the fabulous Amazing Paper Grace August Die of the Month, 'Peekaboo Trellis Panels'.

This die set includes two gorgeous leafy peekaboo panels to use on your creations along with these gorgeous flat floral and foliage outline dies. I wanted to show a different way to use them, so place the backgrounds into panels rather than using them as cut outs.

I created mixed media papers to die cut to add visual texture, so be sure to scroll down through the Tips and Techniques section below where I share all the details on how I created this summery ensemble.

Many thanks to Amazing Paper Grace for providing the dies used in this project!

There are 13 cutting dies included in the Peekaboo Trellis Panels.

Tips and Techniques
I used a pale summery sea green to cut out the leafy peekaboo panel which for this card becomes lovely background texture. I found that the Fluted Classics Slimline die (S6-186) are a perfect fit for this panel and used them to form a frame around the panel. The outer frame is popped up with foam tape for dimension.

The hugs sentiment that is included in this Peekaboo Trellis Panels set is cut from pink patterned paper and inked to darken it so that it pops. The tag that it sits on is cut from the Perfect Harmony Notecard Embellishments set (S4-1149). To finish the tag the edges are inked for definition and a hardware head is dry brushed with white gesso and adhered to the tag.

I used color sprays on watercolor paper to create the green paper used to die cut the blossom and foliage outlines. Don't you adore the variation of color like you would see in natural leaves? I used scraps of patterned paper from my stash for the backgrounds on the flowers.

Matte gel medium is used to adhere microbeads over the leaves. This medium dries perfectly clear, so you can scatter the microbeads organically over the petals and don't need to worry about shiny adhesive showing through.

I've added a few tags, butterflies, flowers, and mushrooms from the Tim Holtz Field Notes regular and snippets packs to add layers of dimension and enhance the summery feel of this card.

One final view of this lovely summery card.

I ended up making a couple different background papers with my sprays and watercolor papers and decided to go with the darker color on my card, but had this lighter paper set aside that I did not use. I thought it would be perfect to cut the second panel from the Peekaboo Trellis Panels set to create a mixed media bookmark. I selected beautiful summery sky blues from the 49 and Market Tidal Wave Spectrum Sherbet Collection to pair with this panel for the background and frame cut with the Fluted Classics Slimline die set. I also used this mixed media piece to cut a decorative piece for the top of the bookmark using this fabulous die from the Primrose Heart Facade set (S5-484).

One final look for this sweet bookmark.
