I'm enjoying these cooler days of September!! It's been quiet here this past week, but I've been busy creating and have several projects to share with you in the coming week.
Today, I went to a dog show with our daughter, Grace. It was her first show with her 7 month old border collie pup, Breezy. She's not ready for the obedience ring yet, but achieved some nice points in confirmation. She also tried something new - lure coursing. The first time on the course, Breezy wasn't quite sure that she was supposed to be chasing the lure (a couple white plastic bags on a string running through pulleys) until about half way around. The second time in she went after the lure right away and with a vengeance to post one of the faster scores of the day, not to mention having a blast!
When our children were growing up, we encouraged them to find a wholesome interest and to pursue it. I went to many a dog show with Grace and her first dog, Ellie, as she trained and achieved every obedience title the United Kennel Club offers. It was so wonderful to see Grace in her element once again with her new pup. She plans to start teaching dog obedience classes soon, and her students will be very fortunate to learn from her.
I may not have started scrapbooking until a few short years ago, but I wouldn't trade my special time with our children home educating and helping them develop wonderful life skills for anything.
Thanks for stopping by! I treasure your comments.

ReplyDeleteI have never been to an actual dog show - but we love watching them on TV. What a wonderful and special time for you and your family, Tracey. I enjoyed reading your post today and sharing in your joy for life!

ReplyDeleteHow awesome .. and sounds like a wonderful day! You are so right that when we take things "away" from kids like TV and such, we need to replace it with kid-friendly activities to keep them busy and help them mature! So glad that you had a fun day!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like such a wonderful day!! It's so rewarding working with dogs!! I wish your daughter the best of luck with Breezy!! Happy Sunday :)
