Winter Tufted Titmouse DIY Mixed Media Layout with Christmas Cheer Scraps of Elegance Kit

I am awed by our Lord's creation. My sweet friend, Sandee Setliff, took this amazing photo and has graciously granted permission for me to create with it. This little tufted titmouse is taking in the snow while clasping a seed in her mouth. Such a serene and beautiful photo capturing the essence of winter.

I've seen several mixed media pieces recently with layered stenciling that caught my eye. I thought I'd give it a try on this layout and simply adore the effect. You can see how in this process video tutorial along with how I achieved the wintry texture on the chipboard.

Enjoy!

Sweet Baby Gift Tags for ScrapBerry's

Hello my dear paper crafting friends!!
I'm back to share my latest project featuring gorgeous ScrapBerry's products.

We are so excited about the coming arrival of our first grandchild who is due to arrive in about a month. As you might guess she is a sweet baby girl. Earlier this month I shared the card I created for the baby shower, and today I have two coordinating gift tags.

I've combined the beautiful ScrapBerry's In Bloom and The Art of Nature Collections to coordinate with the pink and grey color scheme of the shower.

FTC Disclosure: I am currently working as a freelance designer for ScrapBerry's. While I am compensated in product, I maintain the freedom as an independent designer to say what I truly think of these products and will not recommend something that I don’t personally use and enjoy.

Here are some close-ups of the first tag
The doily is die-cut from The Art of Nature Collection with a cluster of gorgeous ScrapBerry's flowers on top. I just adore how bits and pieces of different collections coordinate so perfectly. The sweet bottle cap is from the Winter Joy Collection. I've also tucked in a diadem and heart metal charms as well as chipboard from the Holiday Romance collection.

For added texture I stenciled molding paste across the tag, sprinkled with embossing powder, and heat set. The chipboard and charms are painted with white gesso, then colored with a spray mist that is brushed on. The flowers and other elements are dry brushed with gesso to soften the color and highlight textures.

Of course this is a baby tag, so I just had to include a little resin teddy bear from the Kid's Fun Polymer Set. The silver swirls on the background are stamped with the Fairy Tale clear stamp. I tied a bow with ScrapBerry's white Shabby Ribbon with tied white and beige Wax String at the top.

 . . . and the second tag

I've used the same lovely ScrapBerry's flowers on both tags along with the Diadem metal charms; however, on this one, I've tucked in a heart from the Floral Embroidery Crystal Stickers Decoration pack. I've also used more of the Holiday Romance Chipboard pieces.

This sweet horse rattle also comes from the Kit's Fun Polymer Set. **Tip** Resin resists water based color products, so if you want to color them with a product like color mist or watercolor paint, brush the resin piece with gesso and allow to dry. Then your color will stick to the decoration.

More mixed media textures.

I hope you've been inspired to grab your ScrapBerry's supplies to create a sweet tag for the next gift you give.

Craft Hoarders Anonymous January 2017 Blog Hop

Welcome to the January Craft Hoarders Anonymous Blog Hop.

Your favorite Hoarders are back for our first quarter hop! All of the participating designers are offering prizes, so make sure you check each blog! I have a chipboard prize package this month for one of our lucky hoppers (from the US). Scroll down for the details and a photo.

You should be coming to my blog from Gloria Stengel. She's also the first blogger in the hop if you would like to start at the beginning. Then after visiting me, hop over to Pam Bray! You can scroll down to the bottom of this post for a full list of designers participating in this month's blog hop.

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, I decided to create a love themed card. Really it could be used for a Valentine, birthday card, or even a feminine graduation card. This card is a bit of a twist for me. I tried to try to keep it flat so it could be mailed more easily. If you're a regular follower, You know that I generally use flowers and dimensional items that are pretty thick to put into an envelope to mail. With all the busyness of the Christmas and New Years holidays just behind me, I also wanted to make something that would be quick and easy to put together.

"Love Completely"
I used the BoBunny Rose Cafe Collection gifted to me by my dear friend, Juliana Michaels. I have had it in my stash for a while now, so it was great to pull it out and create this sweet card with it.

Close-Ups
Of course I had to include mixed media elements. I stenciled this lovely butterfly into the corner with molding paste, and while wet, sprinkled with embossing powder then heat set to give an enameled finish. The focal paper is dry brushed with gesso, then spattered with thinned gesso for visual dimension.

This layered chipboard piece gives some nice dimension without being too thick. I tucked in some flower pieces from the Noteworthy pack. I used the edge of my scissors to distress the edges of the background papers as well as the sentiment and flags - a quick and easy way to add dimension without making the card too thick.

Now, it's prize time!!

I pulled together a selection of chipboard pieces to send to one of our hoppers. All you have to do is comment on this post. (Because of the cost of international shipping, the prize is available for US hoppers only.)

I will announce a randomly selected winner on January 12, so be sure to drop back by to see if it's you. In the event that I do not hear from the winner within one week, I will draw another name.

Your next stop on the Craft Hoarders Anonymous Blog Hop is the talented Pam Bray. If you have dropped by my blog and would like to start at the beginning, be sure to hop on over to Gloria's blog HERE.

Mixed Media Baby Congratulations Card for ScrapBerry's

We are looking forward to welcoming our first grandchild in February. Our son and his lovely wife are expecting a little girl. I’ve created this sweet card for their baby shower featuring gorgeous ScrapBerry’s papers and embellishments. Rachel’s shower colors are pink and grey, so these papers from The Art of Nature and In Bloom Collections worked perfectly.

I'm up on the ScrapBerry's blog HERE.
Thanks for dropping by their blog to leave a comment.

FTC Disclosure: I am currently working as a freelance designer for ScrapBerry's. While I am compensated in product, I maintain the freedom as an independent designer to say what I truly think of these products and will not recommend something that I don’t personally use and enjoy.

Tips and Techniques
I arranged fabulous ScrapBerry’s flowers around the beautiful Rose Garden metal framed “Congratulations” piece which is dry brushed with gesso for a vintage look.

The white Fairy Tale resin flowers and Wedding frame are painted with white gesso, then dripped with glimmer mist to color. The flowers and embellishments are dry brushed with gesso to soften.

I just had to tuck this sweet Kid’s Fun resin baby rattle into the cluster. It’s also brushed with gesso and mist to color. The ScrapBerry’s Birds of Paradise chipboard feathers extend the design so beautifully. To add texture, the background is stenciled with molding paste then sprinkled with glittered pink/white embossing powder while wet and heat set.

A mix of art stones and prills are adhered into the sweet resin frame from the Wedding Polymer Set for added texture.

"Love Story" Grungy Masculine Card for ScrapBerry's

Love is the theme of the new challenge at ScrapBerry’s, and the design team
has been busy creating projects to inspire you as you join along.

I’ve created this non-traditional grungy guy valentine card for my husband featuring ScrapBerry’s amazing Edge of Town Collection. Stop on over at the ScrapBerry's blog for all the challenge details and to be inspired by the rest of the design team creations HERE.

Close-Ups
I just adore creating grungy, masculine projects. This ScrapBerry's Edge of Town Collection is a dream to work with and gave me a chance to use some of the rusty finds I collect.

The solid heart is die cut from corrugated packaging. I hand cut around the negative to get the open heart. I have an amusing story to share. I was working on these hearts while out with a group of friends. One of the gals brought her two granddaughters. They kept staring at me, then eventually came over to see what I was doing. It turns out they thought I was a bit crazy to be painting hearts black. Of course they agreed that their brother wouldn't like to get pink hearts and that when I added the rust paste, they would actually be pretty cool. What do you think?

There's a snippet of rusty wire screen behind the hearts and clock parts on top.

The "Love Story" sentiment was fussy cut from the same sheet of paper I used for the card. I just adore these rusty letters used for the font!! I used more rust paste on the arrow and chipboard hearts. I popped up the base and sentiment pieces to tuck my rusty pieces under and added a snippet of black screening around the bottom and left edges of the base.

My dear friend Valerie, knows that I adore rusty metal, so her husband is always on the lookout for me. These amazing washers are one of his finds.

The ScrapBerry's Holiday Romance Chipboard Elements includes this arrow that I brushed with rust paste and paired with a rusty washer.

Don't forget to hop on over to the ScrapBerry's blog for the
challenge details and gorgeous inspiration HERE.
