Floral Birthday Card ~ January Craft Hoarders Anonymous Blog Hop

Welcome to the January Craft Hoarders Anonymous Blog Hop!

I hope you've been enjoying inspiration from the talented designers along your way through the hop! There are so many amazing paper crafting ideas.

You should be coming to my blog from Amber Milone. Then after visiting me, hop over to Donna Idlet! To start at the beginning of the hop, please head over to Gloria's Blog!

This month, I decided to go deep into my paper stash and pull out this older "Restoration" Collection by Crate Paper. I have paper, stickers, chipboard, and die cuts from this lovely collection. It's something I picked up several years ago and haven't used much. I guess it really isn't in my go to color palette, but I decided to go out of my comfort zone with this birthday card for our sweet daughter-in-law with splashes of bold orange and pink. I'm so glad I did. What do you think? Of course you know me, I had to add grungy textures on the leafy flourish and butterfly.

"Happy Birthday"

Tips and Techniques
I die cut these sweet leaves and edged the leaves, paper layers, and flowers with ink.

Another view of the flowers.

I had some ink left on my applicator and used it to color this Prima resin butterfly, then rubbed with BoBunny Chocolate Pearlescents.

I adore grungy textures. I painted this leafy flourish with gesso and used my heat tool to dry and bubble the gesso. I painted it with Sweet Alfalfa Twinkling H20's, then rubbed lightly with brown ink to highlight the textures.

I stamped and die cut the sentiment and layered it over coordinating diecuts and chipboard pieces which were inked on the edges. I tied jute twine onto each side of the diecut as well.

I hope you've been inspired to grab something really old from your stash and breath new life into it. A handcrafted card for that special person in your life is sure to be appreciated.
