Scrap-Friendzy BUNNY{blog}HOP

Welcome to your third stop in our Scrap-Friendzy BUNNY{blog}HOP.  If you're following the links, you have just come from Amy's blog.  To start at the beginning hop on over to the Scrap-Friendzy Blog.

There are three ways to win a prize this week(end) and another at the end of the month.

1)  Make all 9 hops from our Scrap-Friendzy blog through each of the eight Design Team blogs.  When you comment at each stop and finish up at the Scrap-Friendzy forum with a post that you have completed the hop by midnight CST on Sunday, April 6, your name will be put into a drawing for a fabulous Scrap-Friendzy prize.

2)  Take the BIG BUNNY HOP CHALLENGE, by creating a project using each of the ingredients from all 8 design team members and post it in our gallery and forum by Friday, April 8  ** UPDATE ** ~ We've extended the deadline for the challenge to Sunday April 10, midnight CST, to be eligible for a second drawing held by Scrap-Friendzy.  You may create a layout, card, or other paper crafted project.  (By completing this challenge, you'll also receive 50 April Friendz Pointz, and the member with the most pointz at the end of the month will receive a cool prize sponsored by Scrap-Friendzy.)

3)  In addition to the BUNNY{blog}HOP grand prize given by Scrap-Friendzy, I'm offering a fun RAK too!  To be entered into my drawing, all you have to do is become a follower of my blog and leave a comment on this post.  Good luck!

My "ingredient" for the BIG BUNNY HOP CHALLENGE is BLING.

You may use rhinestones, Stickles, glitter, metalic paint or ink ~ anything that sparkles or shines.

For inspiration, I have created my first altered project, this spring inspired shabby chic box:

Here's a close-up of the flower and butterfly:

I started out with a paper mache box, painted it off white then distressed it by sanding.  Here is something similar to what I started with:

I removed the lid insert and replaced it with a sheet of metal that I embossed for texture, then alcohol inked with several shades of purple and silver for the bling factor.

The flower was inspired by some created by Paulien van den Bosch.  I used her tutorial to create this one, but my petals were more cupped, so I ended up with this beautiful cabbage rose.  No place to put the bling, but not to worry, there is plenty of bling elsewhere on this box!

The butterfly is a digital image printed on a transparency.  While the ink was still wet, I sprinkled on silver embossing powder, then heated it from further away than normal so I could melt the powder without warping the transparency.  I filled in the small spaces near the edges with dots of lavender Stickles, and coated the back with purple alcohol ink to give the stained glass look.

I curled green wire that had been attached to leaves and the white wire that had been attached to the sprigs of pearls.  I wanted some more bling on the pearl sprigs so painted a bit of crystal Stickles on each pearl.

The cording twist with pearls was a perfect accent to put around the insert.

I edged the lid with a ribbon of clear crystal drops and placed a lavender crystal above each of the shorter drops.

I hope this has inspired you to use bling on your layout or project!

Here is my layout for the BIG BUNNY HOP CHALLENGE:

  13. Oh my goodness Tracey..... Your cabbage flower came out sooooooo BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!! I wanna learn from you!!!
To answer your question... the tule that I use, is some very cheap stuff. (at least, for making the leaves that is) It is kinda like the fabric that is used for doors or windows to keep the bugs out. something like a mosquito net, which I cut apart. Hope this helps.
